What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Demonstratable experience of leading, supporting, guiding and providing oversight to engineers across multi-disciplinary teams in an agile environment.
- Significant experience of the full life-cycle of cloud-based platforms and applications from designing, through deployment to supporting and patching (in particular AWS and/or Azure).
- Proven experience of communicating effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels within an organisation.
- Evidence of defining, building and maintaining infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Experience of creating cloud-based solutions - specifically AWS, utilising the likes of Athena, Sagemaker and Glue, as well as associated cloud services.
You and your role
As our Technical lead, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of advanced cloud-based analytics. We're using these analytics to improve the accuracy of benefit payments and strengthen fraud detection and prevention. Your work will help shape modern data platforms that are improving critical public services. You'll work closely with senior product and delivery partners to define and steer technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with DWP's Strategic Reference Architecture and Data Strategy. You'll provide expert guidance on complex engineering and architectural challenges while supporting and mentoring technical colleagues. Our Tech Leads are trusted experts. You'll influence senior stakeholders, and in turn help drive adoption of secure and resilient AWS and Azure solutions. You'll also collaborate with infrastructure, security and production teams to ensure robust, end-to-end delivery across our whole analytics landscape.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home (40%) and some time collaborating face to face in a hub (60%).
Pay: We offer competitive pay for this role of £75,026 - £92,522, based on our assessment of your skills and experience at interview.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over £23,253 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
