We are looking for Lead Technical Architects experienced in application design, who are confident working on products and services in a complex digital environment.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Architecture design across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments involving networking, security, presentation, middleware, database, and integration aspects.
- Architecture design informed through use of principles, patterns, technical radars, practices and standards.
- Architecture design working with project delivery teams within agile, waterfall and hybrid environments throughout the lifecycle – from concept to go-live.
- Translating business requirements into technical solutions with traceability that can be demonstrated to stakeholders.
- Architecture design through use of architecture modelling techniques and tools to devise and represent.
- Microservice and API-led architecture and integration design tools, techniques and best practice.
- Event-based architecture design, patterns (including pub-sub and data streaming), modelling techniques, tools and standards, across multiple domains in private data-centres and public clouds.
You and your role
You\’ll be working on products, services and systems which are important to lives of millions of people. We\’re a massive organisation, and we work in a complex landscape of users, stakeholders, and legacy and modern technologies. We need you to be a skilled technical expert, as well as a good communicator and leader.
Your role as our Lead Technical Architect is design, implement and oversee the architecture of IT solutions that improve services for millions of DWP users.
You will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across DWP Digital to support the delivery of solutions, creating options and recommendations, including at governance boards, and providing expert advice which informs major technology choices.
You\’ll work the design, oversight and architecture governance of IT solutions that support DWP customers and help our colleagues be at their most effective.
You will work collaboratively with engineers and other experts in multi-disciplinary teams, to create efficient solution designs that meet user needs.
You\’ll ensure technical quality and make sure product designs to DWP\’s Digital Blueprint, Enterprise Architecture and Product Roadmaps.
Location: You\’ll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model – you\’ll spend some time working at home and sometime collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £99,836, comprised of salary and Government Digital & Data allowance.
Pension: You\’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £21,735per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days and rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You\’ll also get all the usual public holidays.
