You and your role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, your day is all about making sure people can securely access the systems they need, when they need them. You will spend time working with identity platforms like Active Directory and Entra ID, keeping authentication running smoothly and improving how sign-in, access and permissions are managed across the organisation. One moment you might be tuning SSO or MFA, the next you will be dealing with certificates, secrets and encryption keys to keep everything locked down and compliant.

You will work across cloud environments such as Azure, AWS and OCI, integrating identity services so users, devices and applications all authenticate securely. A big part of the role is automation, using PowerShell, APIs and infrastructure-as-code to make identity processes faster, safer and more reliable. You will also help shape and deliver a new identity governance capability, designing access controls, reviews and policies that reduce risk and support compliance.

Throughout the day, you will collaborate with security teams, engineers and stakeholders across the business, translating security requirements into practical identity solutions that actually work in the real world.

Location: You will join us in our brilliant digital hub in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle, whichever is more convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you will spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £52,442.

Pension: You will get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £12,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You will also get all the usual public holidays.

We have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • Flexible working including flexible hours and flex-friendly policies.
  • Time off volunteering and charitable giving.
  • Bring your authentic self to work with 'I Can Be Me in DWP'.
