This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive, forward-thinking environment. DWP Digital is recruiting a Configuration Manager to join our growing Configuration Management team. In this role, you\’ll help design, develop and enhance our Configuration Management services and tooling. You\’ll play a central role in managing and evolving our Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring it provides accurate, reliable and meaningful data to support some of the country\’s most critical digital platforms. You\’ll be part of the team responsible for setting the direction of Configuration Management and driving how the CMDB is used across DWP Digital. This is a pivotal moment for the team as we support major strategic digital programmes, ensuring the CMDB holds the high-quality data needed to meet stakeholder and service requirements. Your work will span both day-to-day operational activity and long-term service improvements. You\’ll contribute to our Configuration Management roadmap, support ongoing needs across digital products and services, and help guide continual enhancements to the way we manage configuration data.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to infrastructure, IT Operations and transition projects, delivering a high-quality service and consistent capability across DWP as we transform the way we deliver public services used by millions of people.
- Ensure we stay aligned to Configuration Management policies and standards, maintaining the integrity of Configuration Items (CIs) and their relationships.
- Develop and implement Configuration Management plans and procedures, agree scope with stakeholders and ensure changes are properly assessed, approved and communicated.
- Manage and improve the CMDB and associated processes, capturing, tracking, auditing and reporting on configuration data to ensure accuracy and availability.
- Work with skilled stakeholders and other technical experts to optimise data quality, maintain configuration tools and provide management information on process effectiveness.
What skills, knowledge and experience you will need
- Strong experience in IT Configuration Management, with hands-on expertise in CMDBs and delivering effective solutions in complex environments using industry-standard data models.
- Working knowledge of Service Management frameworks, ideally ITIL.
- Proven ability to influence, collaborate and deliver with stakeholders at all levels.
- Skilled in ServiceNow and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with related analytical and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ownership and accountability, using problem-solving, data and insight to optimise processes and support informed decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Location : You\’ll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Manchester or Newcastle, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working : We work a hybrid model – you\’ll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay : We offer competitive pay of £44,447.
Pension : You\’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £12,876 per year.
Holidays : A generous leave package starting at 25 days rising to 30 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You’ll also get all the usual public holidays.
