We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital, within our Hybrid Cloud Services team.
We\’re using fresh ideas and leading‑edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Develop, implement, maintain, and review systems and services to ensure delivery of best practices whilst working with stakeholders at all levels to set priorities, objectives, and timescales.
- Identifying and automating toil where appropriate, to improve efficiency, and experience automating tasks with scripts, using Python and Bash.
- Writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or equivalent.
- Managing and maintaining cloud infrastructure services and cloud networking.
- Experience responding to alerts and performing troubleshooting using runbooks.
You and your role
We\’re looking for Cloud Infrastructure Engineers who thrive in modern cloud environments and enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges. You\’ll be hands‑on with AWS, Azure or GCP using infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native networking to build and maintain secure, scalable platforms. You\’ll design with resilience and security in mind, embedding controls to mitigate threats and ensure our services stay reliable and performant. Expect to work closely with other engineering teams, with the autonomy to shape solutions that meet real user needs.
You’ll be part of the team that keeps DWP\’s cloud services running smoothly, supporting live products, responding to incidents and continuously improving our infrastructure. We\’re big on automation and self‑service, so you\’ll help create repeatable solutions that accelerate development and reduce manual effort. Location:
You’ll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is more convenient for you.
You’ll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay:
We offer competitive pay of up to £52,442.
Pension:
You’ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £12,000 per year.
Holidays:
A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi‑time. You’ll also get all the usual public holidays.
