DWF is currently recruiting for a Solicitor to join our Police, Care and Justice team in Manchester.
The team provide expertise in niche areas of Litigation, Healthcare Advisory, Inquest and Public Inquiry representation.
The Police Care and Justice team enjoys a wide variety of work, representing both the public and private sector including numerous police forces, prisons, healthcare and education providers.
As a Solicitor, you will be working within the civil claims team that is part of a wider Police, Care and Justice team which as a whole enjoys a wide variety of work, representing both the public and private sector including numerous police forces, prisons, healthcare and education providers.
Many of our cases are sensitive in nature and high profile. The team defends claims involving EL/PL, personal injury, false imprisonment, assault, negligence as well as breach of data protection legislation, the Equality Act, Human Rights Act and Judicial Reviews.
We also represent our clients at complex Article 2 jury inquests and Public Inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Manage your own caseload of EL/PL claims as well as assist more experienced solicitors on more complex claims.
- Understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice.
- Prioritise work effectively and maximise efficiency in working practices.
- Liaise with clients and key stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and ensure smooth case progression.
- Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firmβs direction and client needs.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential
- 0-2 years PQE with a background or understanding of employer\’s liability and public liability claims.
- Proven CPR and civil litigation experience.
- Ability to take and handle your own caseload as well as assist more experienced solicitors on more complex claims.
- Self-motivated and performance-driven, with a commitment to providing high-quality legal advice.
- Ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively whilst meeting strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Desirable
- A background in Prison Law Claims is desirable but not essential as full upskilling in these areas will be provided.
- Knowledge of CPR and civil litigation experience.
