We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Associate with expertise in Consumer Regulatory law to join our growing Commercial team. The team advises household‑name clients across the food, retail, FMCG and hospitality sectors, supporting them on complex consumer regulatory, product compliance, sustainability, product safety and wider risk management issues, often with a UK and cross‑border dimension. This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑profile, strategically important matters, combining strong technical regulatory advice with practical, commercially focused solutions for clients operating in fast‑moving consumer markets.

As a Senior Associate, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality advice to clients, supporting on complex matters, and contributing to the continued development of the practice. You will be joining a supportive, collaborative and collegiate team, with real scope to shape the practice and progress your career. We would welcome applications from high‑performing Senior Associates who are ready for their first Director appointment, as well as experienced Senior Associates seeking a clear and structured career pathway. The role is ideally suited to candidates based in London with a flexible, hybrid working approach. We are also open to candidates based in our regional offices.

Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on consumer protection and product regulatory matters, including product compliance, safety, labelling, marketing and advertising.
  • Supporting clients on product risk management, including regulatory strategy, incident response, product withdrawals and recalls.
  • Advising on sustainability and green claims, helping clients navigate evolving regulatory and enforcement expectations.
  • Assisting clients with regulatory investigations and engagement with enforcement bodies, including Trading Standards, the CMA and other sector regulators.
  • Supporting cross‑border and multi‑jurisdictional matters, working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider DWF network.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, contributing to knowledge‑sharing and the continued development of the team.

Essential

  • Qualified solicitor with experience working in a leading consumer regulatory, commercial or regulatory team.
  • Strong experience advising on consumer protection, product compliance, product safety and/or regulatory risk management.
  • Practical knowledge of consumer‑facing regulatory frameworks, including enforcement, investigations and regulator engagement (e.g. CMA, Trading Standards).
  • Experience advising clients in consumer‑focused sectors such as retail, FMCG, food, hospitality or manufacturing.
  • Excellent drafting and advisory skills, with the ability to provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused guidance.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with sound commercial judgement and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence working directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and contributing positively to team culture and development is desirable.
