Our Commercial Insurance team at DWF are currently hiring for a Senior Associate to join their Property Damage team in Scotland. The Commercial Insurance team are instructed by our insurer clients to pursue subrogated property damage recovery claims, working to recover insurers' outlay where damage has been caused to their customer's property, be it commercial or domestic premises.
This role involves handling a range of insurance claims, for a number of different composite insurers across Scotland, ranging from low to high value. The work includes property damage, product liability, and subrogated recovery cases. You will be expected to manage your own caseload of property damage recovery claims, as well as supervising Junior Solicitors and Paralegals.
Responsibilities- To manage a caseload of pre-litigation property damage claims and litigated Court of Session and Sheriff Court cases.
- Achieve time recording targets split between chargeable and investment time in any one financial year.
- Understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice.
- Prioritise work effectively and maximise efficiency in working practices.
- Understand individual role in the context of the practice group and pro-actively seek to contribute to increased efficiency in developing a caseload appropriate to level of technical, legal knowledge.
- Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm's direction and client needs.
- Previous experience in managing a caseload of property damage recovery claims.
- A commercial insurance background though we will also consider experience of similar work types.
- Experience in running your own caseload.
- A self-motivated individual who can provide guidance, supervision, and support to junior team members.
- The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, in writing and in person.
- Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Someone who is able to demonstrate a real desire to develop their career with DWF.
