We are currently looking for a Paralegal to join the Complex Catastrophic Loss team in our Manchester. The Catastrophic Injury Team is nationally recognised and one of the largest in the UK. We act for a number of well-known insurer clients and provide high quality advice on a wide range of matters that are of significant value, resulting in an interesting and rewarding set of cases for you to work on. The role is hybrid and we would expect office attendance in Manchester 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Assisting and providing support to senior team members who manage a multi-track catastrophic injury caseload.
- Drafting court documents, attending court hearings, working to court deadlines.
- Conducting liability investigations, gathering evidence, preparing advice to clients, identifying medical experts and preparing instructions.
- Reviewing medical records and other case related documents.
- General day to day administration tasks including keeping the case management system up to date and in line with client service level requirements.
- Providing the highest level of client care at all times.
Essential
- Previous experience assisting or managing a litigated complex injury caseload, ideally consisting of Road Traffic Accidents (RTA), Employers Liability (EL)/Public Liability (PL).
- Relevant legal qualifications e.g. LLB, LLM, potentially LPC (but not essential).
- The ability to manage and prioritise tasks, whilst working to strict deadlines.
- The ability to work well as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable
- Basic to intermediate IT and keyboard skills with knowledge of Word, Excel and database programmes such as Lexis Library, Lawtel, Westlaw and Practical Law for carrying out legal research.
- Flexibility, willingness to learn on the job and to participate in learning and development opportunities.
