Why join us? The Major Injury & Casualty team at DWF is currently hiring a Solicitor to join the Casualty team in Manchester. The Major Injury & Casualty Team is nationally recognised and one of the largest in the UK. We act for a number of well‑known insurer clients and provide high quality advice on a wide range of matters of significant value, resulting in an interesting and rewarding set of cases for you to work on. The team handles a range of defendant personal injury matters including Employers Liability (EL) / Public Liability (PL) matters, disease, as well as related pre‑litigation investigations. This is a hybrid role, with 1–2 days required in the Manchester office each week.

Responsibilities

  • Handle your own caseload, while also providing support to more senior team members.
  • Draft court documents, attend court hearings, work to court deadlines.
  • Conduct liability investigations, gather evidence, prepare advice to clients, identify medical experts and prepare instructions.
  • Review medical records and other case‑related documents.
  • Provide the highest level of client care at all times.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • Good academics.
  • A qualified Solicitor or equivalent; we will also consider NQ Solicitors with the right background and experience.
  • Previous experience handling your own or supporting a senior team member with a litigated defendant Casualty caseload, preferably EL/PL but open to candidates with a disease background and willingness to adapt.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks while working to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to quickly and carefully analyse files and sensitive data.
  • Computer literate, including proficient use of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
