We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate with expertise in Clinical Negligence to join our Healthcare Team to represent Defendants, primarily acting for Private Insurers. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of clinical negligence cases, providing high-quality legal advice and representation to our clients. This is a hybrid role, with flexibility as to office requirements, so we are open to considering candidates that are based anywhere in the UK, as long as they are able to attend a DWF office.
Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of high value Defendant clinical negligence matters from inception to resolution.
- Provide expert legal advice on clinical negligence claims, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating case documents.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and decision-making.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, and correspondence.
- Liaise with clients, medical professionals, and experts to gather information and evidence.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Healthcare Team to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Identify opportunities for Business Development.
- Assist with client care matters as required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years PQE in Clinical Negligence.
- Knowledge and experience in handling complex Defendant clinical negligence cases.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively and efficiently.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
- Experience supervising more junior team members.
