Why join us? The Major Injury and Casualty team at DWF is one of the largest in the UK and is nationally recognised. We act for a large number of well-known insurers, many of whom are household names, dealing with complex, catastrophic and large loss claims; resulting in an interesting and rewarding set of cases for you to work on. We are currently looking for a motivated Paralegal to the team in our Leeds office, located in the City Centre. As Paralegal you will assist senior team members who deal with a range of high value files (up to £20 million), including injuries of utmost severity. This role has the flexibility to be offered on a hybrid basis from our Leeds office, with 2/3 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist fee earners and support our qualified individuals with the progression of cases through the litigation process, including assisting with disclosure, witness and expert evidence and preparing for trials/JSMs.
  • Act as a trusted member of the team whilst taking responsibility of tasks, including updating files, reviewing confidential records and liaising with third parties.
  • Engage with clients and other stakeholders to gather and organise information.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the legal team.
  • Action cases in line with the department's and client's service standards and protocols.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • A real interest in EL/PL, RTA, personal injury or catastrophic injury cases, preferably with previous experience, but not essential.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, whilst working to strict deadlines and service levels.
  • Basic to intermediate IT and keyboard skills with knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility, willingness to learn on the job and to participate in learning and development opportunities.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to quickly and carefully analyse files and sensitive data.

Desirable

  • Background working within a busy commercial environment.
