We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Solicitor with expertise in Clinical Negligence to join our Healthcare Team to represent defendants, primarily acting for private insurers within the Republic of Ireland. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of clinical negligence cases, providing high‑quality legal advice and representation to our clients. This is a hybrid role, with flexibility as to office requirements, so we are open to considering candidates that are able to travel to either our Belfast, Northern Ireland or Dublin, Ireland offices.
Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of high‑value defendant clinical negligence matters from inception to resolution.
- Provide expert legal advice on clinical negligence claims, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating case documents.
- Work predominately on Republic of Ireland defendant clinical negligence claims.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and decision‑making.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, and correspondence.
- Liaise with clients, medical professionals, and experts to gather information and evidence.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations as required.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case files and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Healthcare Team to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
- Identify opportunities for business development.
- Assist with client care matters as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 1–3 years PQE in Clinical Negligence. We can potentially consider NQ's with the right training and experience.
- Knowledge and experience in handling complex clinical negligence cases is essential.
- The candidate must be qualified in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland; dual qualifications is even better or willing to work towards dual qualification.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage a high‑volume caseload effectively and efficiently.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
