Our General Insurance team at DWF provides expertise in Motor & RTA and is currently seeking a Solicitor or Associate to handle a varied caseload of litigated Motor & RTA defendant cases. We are looking for someone with a mixed defender caseload comprising Motor, Road Traffic Accidents (RTA), Employers Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL) and Personal Injury cases, raised at summary cause, ordinary sheriff court and Court of Session level. The role will involve reviewing evidence and quickly progressing cases to the end point, either settlement or proof, in line with client service level agreements. Newly qualified candidates are welcomed. The role can be worked from Glasgow or Edinburgh on a hybrid basis.
Responsibilities
- Work with partners to manage a caseload of high‑value claims, comprising a variety of defender EL/PL & RTA matters.
- Draft pleadings, reports to clients, attend court hearings, work to court deadlines, progress liability investigations, gather evidence, instruct experts and consider interesting medical causation issues.
- Prioritise work effectively to maximise efficiency in working practices, adhering to court deadlines and directions, as well as the client’s service level agreements.
- Build working relationships internally and externally to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s directions and client needs.
Desirable Criteria
- 0–5 years PQE, preferable within Motor, RTA, EL, PL and Personal Injury.
- Consideration of NQs with an interest and experience in these areas.
- Technically experienced in and a real interest in Casualty, Disease, Personal injury, Serious injury and catastrophic injury work.
- Experience handling high‑value defender personal injury files either alone or as an assistant to more senior team members.
- Familiarity with working in a commercial environment.
