DWF\’s Solicitor Apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for ambitious sixth form/college leavers looking to start their career within the legal sector, without the cost or time associated with the traditional university route.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting solicitors with casework and legal research.
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence, including court bundles, post‑completion work and other legal documents.
  • Managing client files and documentation, ensuring they are organised and up to date.
  • Participating in client meetings and court proceedings, observing and sometimes taking part in hearings.
  • Supporting the team with administrative tasks to keep the office running smoothly.
  • Rotating through different departments and teams, with responsibility growing over time.
  • Conducting legal research, evaluating sources of law, applying findings and presenting accurate conclusions.
  • Providing informed legal advice and assessing the consequences of different options.
  • Drafting documents from scratch, using precedents, and complying with all formalities and clear language.
  • Performing spoken and written advocacy in court and other formal settings, presenting reasoned arguments and managing witnesses.
  • Negotiating solutions for clients, identifying interests, developing options and presenting them persuasively.
  • Planning and managing legal cases and transactions, applying relevant processes, assessing risk and bringing matters to conclusion.
