Join our new national Corporate Risk team, acting for some of the UK's best known corporate brands. We’re seeking an experienced Litigator to join our Corporate Risk litigation team as Solicitor/Associate. The Corporate Risk team acts for a number of well‑known corporate clients and provides high quality advice on a wide range of matters that are of significant value, resulting in an interesting and rewarding set of cases for you to work on. You can expect to receive exposure to a variety of matters, from minor injury accidents to more complex accidents and procedural issues. You will be working with current and new corporate clients, and their insurers and brokers, so will have a significant amount of client exposure in an exciting and growing team. The role is hybrid, with office attendance required in Leeds or Manchester a minimum of two days per week.
Responsibilities
- Working with the Partners and Legal Directors to manage a caseload of high‑value claims, comprising a variety of Defendant, Large/Complex Loss, EL/PL, and motor matters ranging in value from £100,000 to £2m.
- Manage your own individual caseload of high‑value fast‑track and multiple‑track cases ranging in value from £25k to £100k.
- Draft pleadings, reports to clients, attend court hearings, work to court deadlines, conduct liability investigations, gather evidence, instruct experts, and consider interesting medical causation issues.
- Prioritise work effectively to maximise efficiency, adhere to court deadlines and client service level agreements.
- Build working relationships internally and externally to maintain client relationships, develop business networks, and create a solid understanding of client needs.
- Provide support and act as the ‘go to person’ for more junior members in the team.
- Attend client review meetings and meetings with other external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 2+ PQE preferable within litigation and Defendant EL/PL and/or motor experience, with case values from £25k to £100k+.
- Technically experienced in and/or a real interest in EL/PL, Serious Injury, Personal Injury, Motor work.
- Familiar with working in a commercial environment.
- Ability to deal successfully with corporate clients, insurers and brokers.
- Enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge.
- Adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes.
- Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise own workload effectively under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
- Confident oral and written communication skills.
- Desirable: Previous knowledge of working with a case management system.
- Desirable: Demonstrable knowledge of the importance and use of Management Information.
