The Major Loss & Casualty team at DWF is one of the largest in Scotland and is nationally recognized. We act for a large number of well-known insurers, dealing with complex, major, and large loss claims. The team is currently recruiting for a Paralegal or Senior Paralegal with EL/PL, Motor RTA, Fatal Accidents, or Personal Injury experience, preferably defender side, but pursuer experience will also be considered. The Paralegal or Senior Paralegal will support a range of high-value files from £1m to over £10m, with some exposure to commercial insurance work as required. The team is based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but we are open to candidates throughout Scotland and are willing to discuss hybrid working patterns. Responsibilities:
- Supporting high-value claims involving defender personal injury, EL/PL, Motor, RTA, and fatal accidents.
- Drafting pleadings, client reports, attending court hearings, meeting deadlines, conducting liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts, and assessing medical causation.
- Prioritizing work efficiently, adhering to court deadlines and client service agreements.
- Building internal and external relationships to maintain client relationships, develop networks, and understand the Firm’s direction and client needs.
- Supporting the team on commercial insurance files as needed.
What will help you succeed?
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in personal injury, large loss, EL/PL, Motor, RTA, fatal accidents, and casualty claims.
- Interest or experience in employer’s liability, public liability, RTA, and serious injury work.
- Experience handling high-value defender personal injury files, either independently or as an assistant.
- Familiarity with working in a commercial environment.
