DWF are seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Legal Director to join our successful and growing Commercial team specialising within the Energy sector. Our Commercial Contracts team uses their legal expertise and understanding of commercial objectives to draft and agree complex terms. The Energy team at DWF have been recognised for their energy and renewables expertise and operates closely with colleagues across the firm’s international network. Electricity, gas, water, renewables and nuclear work are key areas of focus. This role will give you exposure to some very high profile and complex transactions on an international scale. This role would suit a commercial lawyer looking to further develop their career and specialise in the growing Energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, amend and negotiate energy related contracts and agreements.
- Provide legal advice on energy law and regulations to clients.
- Advise on project documents associated with renewable, net and low carbon energy generation & storage projects.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on legislative changes.
- Represent clients in negotiations with project counter-parties.
- Assist clients in compliance with environmental and energy regulations.
- Advise on risk management and mitigation strategies in energy projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored legal solutions.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor with considerable commercial contract experience.
- Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
- Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide clear guidance.
- Proven experience in advising clients on transactional matters.
Desirable Requirements:
- An understanding of energy law, regulatory frameworks, and commercial contracts (such as grid connections, power purchase agreements and other route to market contracts).
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance issues in the energy sector.
