Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the directors and Nominated Individual to achieve registration with OFSTED.
  • Lead and manage the Home and ensure the efficient operation of the service in accordance with the relevant legislation, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose for the home.
  • Achieve a quality service; aiming to achieve a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' OFSTED rating.
  • To recruit, lead, manage, and support the home staff team, regularly supervising, assessing staff performance, and providing training.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Supported Accommodation 2023, Safeguarding Legislation and Procedures, the Children Act, other relevant legislation and guidance and company policy and procedure.
  • To ensure recommendations or requirements from inspection and quality assurance visits are addressed and resolved within designated timescales.
  • Provide written reports for reviews, case conferences and other meetings requested. Ensure that relevant actions identified at such meetings are implemented.
  • To provide effective leadership and management of the residential home including recruiting, inducting and training new staff.
  • Manage and safeguard the children and young people and promote their wellbeing.
  • Ensure that the highest possible standards of physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural care are maintained within the home at all times.
  • Create a culture and ethos where the complex needs of each young person are met.
  • To ensure the promotion of education, physical health and emotional well-being of the young people.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies and support the young people to attend meetings with other professionals.
  • You will be required to attend admission and planning meetings; and attend Looked After Children's Reviews ensuring all relevant paperwork is complete.
  • Oversee the completion of weekly Health and Safety checks within the accommodation. You must ensure they are recorded and report any repair work or damage to the property to ensure it is kept to a high standard.
  • Maintain confidentiality of young people and report any concerns regarding the young person's welfare in line with our policies and procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and report these effectively.

Personal:

  • To act as a role model and guide for staff and young people setting principles and examples.
  • To make use of regular professional supervision.
  • To report to the Registered Individual or other appropriate person.
  • To have the right mix of empathy, a can-do attitude, respond well to criticism and great communication skills.

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a deputy or registered manager in a children's residential setting.
  • Worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in children's residential setting.
  • Worked for at least 2 years, within the last 5 years, in a position relevant to the residential care of children.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification or in progress.
  • Full Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be incurred by Dwelling Places Homes. You will then be required to register with the update service.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, OFSTED regulations, and best practice guidelines for the role.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children and young people.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the service, including occasional evening and weekend work as required.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Willing to travel to our homes across South London and the surrounding areas.

Desirable:

  • Social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving licence.

Work Conditions:

  • Willing to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

Job Types: Permanent.

Pay: From £40K - 55K DoE.
