ROLE PURPOSE
As Design Assistant, you will play a crucial support role in the design and development process. Working closely with the Head of Design, you will assist in the creation of seasonal collections, from research and fabric sourcing to sample development and fittings. This is a dynamic and hands-on role suited to a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive individual with a passion for luxury womenswear and bridal/occasion-wear fashion. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, supporting the team with administrative and creative tasks while maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and brand identity.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A fashion degree with strong technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, and textiles.
- Experience with Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) for technical sketches and design work.
- A keen interest in luxury womenswear and bridal/occasion-wear fashion, with an understanding of high-end fabrics and embellishments.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Hands-on experience with fabric sourcing, mood boards, trend research, and design development.
- A proactive, solution-driven mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A collaborative approach, working seamlessly within a small, high-performance team.
- A willingness to take on administrative tasks that support the smooth running of the design studio.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Design & Development Support
- Assist in the creation of mood boards, trend research, and fabric selections to support seasonal collections.
- Prepare technical sketches and CAD drawings using Adobe Illustrator.
- Organise and maintain the fabric and trim library, sourcing new materials when required.
- Work closely with the Head of Design to support the design-to-production process.
- Assist in the development of spec sheets and technical packs for sampling and production.
Sample & Production Coordination
- Support fittings and alterations, taking notes and making necessary updates to tech packs.
- Liaise with pattern cutters and sample makers, ensuring designs are developed accurately.
- Maintain and track sample inventory, ensuring all garments are accounted for and organised.
- Ensure production deadlines are met by keeping communication flowing between internal teams and external suppliers.
Studio & Administrative Support
- Maintain an organised and efficient design studio, ensuring all materials, tools, and resources are easily accessible.
- Prepare garments for shoots, fashion shows, and client appointments.
- Assist in general studio tasks, from organising fabrics to coordinating deliveries.
- Support the team with day-to-day administrative duties, including updating design files and managing digital archives.
