We're working with a specialist technology consultancy delivering a major engineering transformation programme for a leading global financial markets organisation.
They're looking for experienced C++ Software Engineers to join a dedicated engineering team working on complex, high-performance, real-time systems.
This is a hands-on development role focused on building, enhancing and integrating production software, with particular emphasis on modern C++, multithreading and low-latency engineering.
You'll work alongside experienced technical leads, software engineers and quality engineering specialists to deliver reliable, scalable solutions within a business-critical environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain high-quality production software using modern C++.
- Build and optimise multithreaded, multicore applications operating in performance-critical environments.
- Investigate performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex issues and improve system reliability.
- Contribute to technical design, code reviews, refactoring and integration activities.
- Develop unit tests and support automated integration and regression testing.
- Work within established Git, CI/CD and automated testing workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA and product teams to deliver complex technical requirements.
What we're looking for
- Strong commercial C++ development experience, with recent hands-on engineering experience.
- Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency and multicore programming.
- Experience developing high-performance or low-latency software.
- Strong knowledge of software design principles, data structures, algorithms and debugging.
- Experience with unit testing, code reviews and modern engineering practices.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Experience working on large-scale, complex or business-critical software systems.
- Financial services technology, particularly market data, trading platforms or real-time systems.
- Performance profiling, benchmarking and optimisation.
- Integrating C++ applications with complex distributed or legacy systems.
- Experience supporting production systems and resolving complex technical issues.
