The Switchgear PLC Programmer (also known as Power Systems Engineer) collaborates with Engineers, DVL Sales, Program Management, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and end-user customers. Responsibilities include startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of switchgear, ATSs, and other electrical control systems. This role involves managing integrated power systems projects from conception to completion.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
- Perform startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of switchgear, ATSs, and other electrical control systems.
- Construct control panels, modify field wiring, ensuring neat, high-quality OEM-like wiring.
- Set up protective relaying systems for generator and utility paralleling operations.
- Familiarize with and operate manufacturer (Liebert) UPS equipment.
- Oversee electrical control projects from start to finish, including:
Collaborate with Sales to define and budget projects, refine costs post-closing, develop submittal drawings, coordinate with vendors (GE, Square D, DVM), provide schematics, and program control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and protective relays. Participate in construction, testing, startup, commissioning, and ongoing service.
Perform load bank tests, infrared imaging, and power quality analysis safely and efficiently.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY
- BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (Electrical Power Engineering preferred).
- Relevant experience with switchgear manufacturing, generator dealerships, control system providers, or similar.
- Hands-on controls design or field experience preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Promise E for electrical schematics and layouts.
- Understanding of electrical generation, distribution, control systems, and NEC regulations.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E & OSHA safety standards.
- Willingness to learn IT/server networking for control systems.
- Experience with PLC systems (GE, Allen Bradley), Woodward, SEL, Schneider, Basler, and SCADA systems.
- Valid driverβs license and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

The salary range is $97,000 – $135,000/year plus car allowance and bonuses, based on experience.
