Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting underwriting, product, and leadership teams while managing legal risk. Key duties include:
- Advising on complex insurance and reinsurance matters across property, casualty, and specialty lines.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Lloyd's and Company Market policy wordings, delegated authority agreements, and distribution arrangements.
- Supporting underwriting and product teams on governance, regulatory requirements, and product development.
- Providing legal advice on coverage issues, disputes, sanctions, and regulatory matters.
- Advising on commercial contracts and broader corporate legal issues.
- Supporting strategic business initiatives, corporate projects, and transactions.
- Developing legal guidance, training, and best-practice documentation for internal teams.
- Managing legal risk and coordinating with external counsel when required.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following professional requirements:
- Qualification: Qualified lawyer with approximately 5 to 6+ years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE).
- Domain Expertise: Strong insurance and/or reinsurance legal experience, gained either in private practice or in-house.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Good knowledge of UK insurance regulation and the Lloyd's market.
- Skills: Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a commercially minded approach to balancing legal risk and business objectives.
