Recruitment - Business Development Manager – Sales | Healthcare Staffing (Temp)

B2b win the contracts - let the team do the delivery - progression to Head of Sales.

Slough, Berkshire | £45,000 – £60,000 base + uncapped commission (100K+)

The delivery engine is already built. We need someone to go and win the contracts that fill it.

Our client is an established UK healthcare temporary staffing agency, supplying nurses, healthcare assistants, support workers and allied health professionals into care homes, nursing groups, private hospitals and healthcare operators.

They have spent the best part of a decade building the part most agencies get wrong — compliance, vetting, payroll, credit control and a resourcing team that actually fills what is sold.

The business is now in a deliberate growth phase, has broadened beyond healthcare into industrial staffing with an expansion into education under way, and is investing in a senior sales hire to take client volume to the next level.

This is that hire.

The mandate

Own the growth of the client portfolio from first contact through to regular weekly bookings.

The target is a book generating £3.3 million in annual billings and £1 million a year in gross margin at run rate, with a phased Year 1 ramp agreed at onboarding.

What you will actually do.

  • Build and run a new business strategy across the care home, nursing home and wider healthcare operator market
  • Generate pipeline through cold outreach, site visits, networking, referrals, tenders and frameworks, and re‑engaging lapsed accounts
  • Negotiate rate cards, terms of business and service agreements in line with margin policy of around 30%
  • Win and mobilise new accounts — agree terms, coordinate onboarding with compliance, and drive first bookings through to regular weekly volume
  • Grow accounts by expanding into additional units, sites, shifts and staff categories
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and care sector forums
  • Work closely with resourcing colleagues so fill rates and service quality match the volume you are winning
  • Keep CRM records, pipeline forecasts and weekly reporting to the directors accurate.
  • How the week works
  • Roughly 80% office based in Slough, 20% from home
  • Around 10% of your time out on the road at client sites, meetings and sector events
  • A lot of business is done on Teams and Zoom, so you can cover ground nationally without living in the car
  • Reporting directly to the Managing Director and HR Director — no middle layer.
  • What you need
  • Proven B2B sales or business development within temporary healthcare staffing, nursing agency, or the wider recruitment and staffing sector
  • A demonstrable history of winning new accounts and delivering against revenue or margin targets — evidence will be discussed at interview
  • Strong understanding of the UK care sector: care homes, nursing groups, CQC‑regulated environments, agency usage patterns and rate dynamics
  • A confident negotiator with home managers, regional managers and director‑level buyers
  • Self‑starting, target‑driven and resilient enough to build a desk from proactive outbound activity
  • Willing to travel to client sites, and right to work in the UK
  • What will make you stand out
  • An existing network of care home and healthcare operator contacts
  • Experience selling framework, master‑vendor or preferred‑supplier arrangements
  • Familiarity with healthcare staffing compliance — DBS, right to work, training matrices, NMC checks
  • Experience with staffing platforms and CRM or ATS systems
  • The package
  • up to £60,000 base, dependent on experience
  • Uncapped commission at 10% of the gross margin on your new account wins
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays, phone and laptop
  • A clear progression pathway towards Head of Sales as the function scales
  • Director‑level backing, quick decisions, and a compliance‑strong back office so you can sell with confidence
  • Be straight with yourself

This is a hunting role in a competitive, relationship‑led market.

There is no warm inbound pipeline waiting for you and the targets are substantial.

In exchange you get an established business with a decade of trading behind it, a delivery team whose job is filling what you win, and commission with no ceiling on it.
