Projects currently include 2 massive builds in Greater London, 4 in Ipswich, 1 logistics park, and 1 in Norwich with Redhill and Uxbridge TBC. This is a business with a great reputation and a collaborative approach, they need an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen the team!
The Role: This is a senior-level position, ideal for an experienced professional who thrives on serious negotiation and commercial management. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are financially successful while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Importantly, this role does not involve line management; it’s about technical expertise, negotiation, and delivering results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting for construction projects.
- Be a negotiating QS bulldog!
- Prepare tender and contract documentation (JCT/NEC).
- Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to secure best value.
- Manage variations, valuations, and final accounts.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to project teams and directors.
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (would be ideal).
- Chartered status (MRICS or similar) preferred (also ideal but not essential).
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in construction cost management, negotiation in a similar SME QS role.
- Very strong negotiation skills with proven commercial acumen.
- Excellent knowledge of contracts.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
