I am currently partnering with a premier digital agency in Newcastle to find a talented WordPress Developer to join their high-performing, collaborative team. This agency is known for creating transformational digital products for ambitious brands across retail, travel, finance, education, and healthcare.

The Role

In this hands-on role, you will be integral to architecting, building, and supporting bespoke WordPress or Shopify solutions. You won’t just be "tweaking templates" you’ll be building tailored products that solve real-world business problems. Working in cross-functional teams, you will blend your technical skills with creative and strategic input to deliver meaningful results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, bespoke WordPress websites and applications.
  • Build custom themes and plugins from the ground up (no "off-the-shelf" bloat).
  • Collaborate closely with designers, SEO specialists, and strategy teams to ensure technical excellence.
  • Optimise sites for performance, security, and scalability.
  • Participate in code reviews and help drive best practices across the development lifecycle.

What You’ll Need

  • WordPress Expertise: Strong experience with bespoke WordPress development, including custom post types, ACF, and Gutenberg.
  • Core Tech: Proficiency in PHP and MySQL.
  • Frontend Skills: High confidence with HTML5, CSS3 (Sass), and JavaScript.
  • Workflow: Experience with Git and version control workflows.
  • Bonus Points: Knowledge of WooCommerce, REST APIs, or frontend frameworks like React or Vue.js.
