Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician for a permanent position based with our client in Rotherham. Immediate start available (subject to interview process). Salary is £45,000 to £48,000 per annum (depending on experience).

Summary:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, responsible for the mechanical maintenance, breakdown activities and coordination of 3rd party suppliers. To ensure the plant is maintained with respect to safety, environmental, OEM and industry recognised best practice guidelines, to deliver the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency, whilst maintaining engineering integrity at all times. Undertake practical application and timely diagnosis, fault finding and scheduled/unscheduled repair and maintenance of the mechanical plant and systems. Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance work is completed and updated within the CMMS. Ensure all site engineering and maintenance procedures and management instructions are complied with at all times, undertaking reviews of such documents as required. Provide support and input into the site's engineering integrity strategy and asset risk register, for all mechanical assets. Work flexibly in support of the business, able to change working patterns where necessary in order to meet the needs of the business. Undertake the role of the Engineering and Maintenance Team Leader from time to time, as per delegated authority. Carry out other responsibilities and duties commensurate with the position as required by the company.

Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining a biomass or thermal power plant process, permit and safety systems and WSE (LOLER/PSSR).
  • General knowledge and experience of steam turbines, combustion systems, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators and flue gas emission abatement.
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance/defect repair of valves, pumps, fans, mechanical drives and conveyors.
  • An understanding and ability to read P&ID and isometric diagrams.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite and ideally previous CMMS experience.
  • Five years' Power Plant Operations experience within a maintenance role.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, flexible and committed attitude.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications:

ONC / C&G / NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline is essential, along with a high level of practical thermal/process plant maintenance experience. A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement, with IOSH Managing Safely as a preferred requirement.
