Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are currently recruiting for a Fabrication Engineer on behalf of our client based in St Helens. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fabrication professional looking to join a well-established and growing business. Immediate start available (subject to interview process). Salary is £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience).

Key Responsibilities

  • Drawing & Technical Capability
  • Confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Create fabrication drawings
  • Work from client specifications and produce shop-ready drawings
  • Understand tolerances, weld symbols, and surface finishes

Software Skills

  • Competent in relevant engineering and drawing software packages

Hands-on Fabrication Knowledge

  • Welding processes
  • Cutting, drilling and forming techniques
  • Assembly methods
  • Jigging and sequencing of work

BS EN 1090 & Compliance Knowledge

  • Material traceability requirements
  • Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)

The Successful Candidate Will Be Able To:

  • Clearly explain drawings and technical information to workshop staff
  • Identify potential issues early and communicate practical solutions
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Manage workload effectively and maintain high standards of quality

Ideal Background

  • Time-served Fabricator/Welder who has progressed into an engineering role
  • Strong understanding of fabrication and workshop processes
  • Experience producing fabrication drawings and supporting production teams
