Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager for a permanent position based with our client in Sheffield. Immediate start available (subject to interview process). Salary is £45,000.00 per annum (depending on experience).

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth: Identify new markets, develop go-to-market strategies for cutting-edge metal technologies, and shape proposals for new bids and tenders.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements, ensuring favourable terms regarding margins, warranties, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Financial Oversight: Manage profit and loss (P&L), monitor cost drivers, and establish pricing models tailored to specialized manufacturing processes.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with volatile raw material costs, supply chain disruptions, and evolving international regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary commercial interface between clients, engineering teams, and external project partners.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of metallurgy, advanced materials (e.g., composites, laser cutting, press brake), or heavy manufacturing sectors.
  • Commercial Acumen: Expertise in contract models (e.g., fixed-price, cost-plus) and contract law.
  • Financial Literacy: Strong ability to forecast cash flow, manage budgets, and perform cost-to-value reconciliations.
  • Education: Typically requires a degree in Business, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience in a senior commercial role.
