The Warehouse Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse team to ensure that goods are efficiently and safely stored, picked, packed, and shipped in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Team Leader will manage a team of warehouse associates, coordinate tasks, and ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of warehouse associates to achieve daily goals and KPIs. Provide clear instructions and guidance to team members on their duties and responsibilities. Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, updates, and safety protocols. Assign tasks based on skill levels, ensuring that workloads are balanced across the team.
Operational ManagementOversee the efficient receiving, storing, and dispatching of goods. Monitor warehouse processes such as picking, packing, inventory management, and order fulfilment. Ensure accurate stock levels and maintain inventory control systems to minimise errors. Co-ordinate order fulfilment to meet delivery deadlines and customer requirements.
Training & DevelopmentTrain new team members on warehouse operations, safety procedures, and equipment use. Provide ongoing support and development opportunities for the team to improve productivity and efficiency. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, actively identifying areas for training and skill development.
Safety & ComplianceEnsure all warehouse activities comply with health and safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment for all staff members.
Performance Monitoring & ReportingMonitor team performance, providing regular feedback to ensure high standards of work are maintained. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, on-time shipping, and inventory levels. Report on warehouse operations to management, highlighting any issues, risks, or opportunities for improvement.
Problem Solving & Conflict ResolutionAddress operational challenges or delays, taking prompt action to resolve issues. Handle conflicts within the team and mediate disputes to maintain a positive and productive working environment. Work closely with other warehouse departments, such as inventory control, shipping, and customer service, to ensure smooth operations. Liaise with management to report on team performance and provide input on process improvements.
Equipment ManagementEnsure the proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems. Oversee the scheduling of equipment servicing and repairs when needed.
