We're working with a global alternative asset manager ($570bn AUM) on a rare, greenfield hire within their European Direct Lending business, a $80bn+ strategy with ~95 investment professionals across London and Europe.
This is a brand new quant function, you'll be the first in this team, embedded directly in the front office, with plans to grow the team beneath you. The credit side of the business has already successfully built out this capability, so there's a proven model and live case study to draw from.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and enhancing dynamic fund-level financial models (capital allocation, return optimisation, liquidity)
- Developing tactical front-office tools that bridge investment teams and technology
- ETL and data management across an Azure-hosted Data Lake environment
- Integrating with enterprise platforms (OMS, fund accounting, loan accounting systems)
- Longer-term scope into risk, pricing analytics, and AI-driven platform development
The stack:
- VBA/Excel
- Python (Pandas, NumPy, Flask/Django)
- Databricks/Snowflake
- Azure Data Lake
- Microsoft Power Platform
- SQL
Who they're looking for:
- ~7+ years in a technical role within financial services (investment management, private credit, or private equity preferred)
- ~ Strong commercial and corporate finance understanding (this is not a pure coding role)
- ~ Excel/VBA proficiency is highly valued; Python is a bonus
- ~ Comfortable being the only quant and building from scratch
- ~ Available at short notice, 6 months will be too long
Interview process:
- 30-min intro call → take-home case study (Excel-based) → further stages to follow
We encourage you to apply even if you think you may not currently fit all these requirements – so long as you have proven academics and are willing to work hard and learn, we want to hear from you.
Note: if you haven't received a reply within 3 days, your application was possibly and unfortunately not accepted.
