The Role and Department Josephine Butler College is seeking to appoint and welcome a new 1 year fixed term Student Enrichment Assistant (Grade 3, 0.4FTE) to our friendly, vibrant, and inclusive community. Opened in 2006, we are named after the 19th‑century social reformer, Josephine Butler, who had a profound influence on society’s view of women's health and education. Her legacy of advocacy, commitment to social justice, and kindness serves as an inspiration to our students, staff, and broader College community. Josephine Butler College is led by Professor Gillian Hampden‑Thompson. In the academic year of 2026-27, the College will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. As such, the role will allow the successful candidate to be involved in supporting various events and activities relating to the anniversary celebrations. This is an in‑person role based at Josephine Butler College. For a suitably qualified candidate, the position could be alongside another fractional role, as we can offer flexibility in choosing which day of the week the hours are worked. The expected start date is 1st September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The role may require occasional evening work.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Support the delivery of Butler Engage and Butler Launch programmes, working with the Principal and Vice‑Principal to coordinate student enrichment, leadership, careers, and employability activities during the 20th‑anniversary year.
- Assist the College Administration Coordinator and College Interns with communications and digital content, including preparing announcements, maintaining online platforms, and supporting student‑facing information.
- Contribute to the College’s alumni engagement work, helping to prepare communications, maintain records, and support alumni‑related initiatives.
- Provide administrative support for anniversary events and activities, including planning, logistics, and on‑the‑day assistance as required.
