Typical Role Requirements

Here are the kind of activities that you\’ll be asked to undertake and ways in which you\’ll be expected to operate.

Service Delivery

  • Provide an excellent and timely service to our alumni community, including International Chapter Leaders.
  • Carry out, promote and monitor engagement with alumni based in China via social media channels including WeChat.
  • Follow established procedures when carrying out your role and vary or refer to more senior colleagues when necessary.
  • Collect, organise and record data and information accurately for use by others.
  • When carrying out your role, apply relevant industry and regulatory standards including adherence to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Look after yourself and others by following health and safety regulations, being aware of any hazards and risks and reporting any incidents.
  • Follow established security protocols when dealing with other staff that are new to an area of work.

Teamwork/Liaison

  • Help your colleagues when required with other key activities undertaken within your service. For example, support Business School Congregation events by acting as a Marshall; communicate with external providers to support alumni events taking place in China.
  • Help and cooperate with the rest of your team on operational matters to help achieve shared objectives.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the International, Engagement and Careers team to ensure that services are being delivered in an efficient and collaborative way.

Communication/Personal

  • Show a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and the University\’s values.
  • Follow established procedures to respond to queries and bring any complex issues to the attention of more experienced team members.
  • Respond to queries and provide information about events and activities run by the APG Team and wider Business School where appropriate.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Fluent Chinese Speaker.
  • Experience of working in a team delivering customer focussed administrative services or having relevant qualifications for the role.
  • General administrative experience in an office environment.
  • Experience of managing time to meet deadlines.
  • Five GCSE\’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience.

Skills / Abilities / Knowledge

  • Good digital skills including experience in using digital devices and apps including WeChat and other Chinese social media and digital engagement tools.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills in English.
  • Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to solve problems as part of a team and resolve straightforward issues.
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance to a range of colleagues and stakeholders.

Role Details

This is a part time role of 9 hours a week, 3 mornings or afternoons a week of 3 hours. The exact times are flexible and can be fitted around other commitments where possible.

We operate a hybrid working policy, giving the postholder the opportunity to work 50% of the time from home and 50% from our office in Mill Hill Lane. It is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
