Role
The post is for a fixed term only and will not be extended beyond the 12‑month term. You will teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules, contribute to curriculum development, and supervise dissertations. You will also engage in scholarship and participate in departmental committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, demonstrating effective approaches to student learning.
- Design, plan and write teaching materials and lead aspects of modules.
- Deliver an inclusive curriculum and contribute to an inclusive community.
- Respond to teaching feedback and engage in continuing professional development.
- Supervise undergraduate students and act as part of a PhD supervisory team where appropriate.
- Contribute to educational skill development of colleagues through seminars and discussion.
- Build internal contacts and participate in networks to exchange information.
- Engage in scholarship, including creating online teaching resources.
- Participate in Board of Studies, departmental committees and professional bodies.
- Provide student support, assess academic performance, and handle disciplinary matters.
- Undertake administrative roles allocated by the Head of Department.
- Foster a collegial and respectful working environment that is inclusive and welcoming.
- Engage in wider citizenship to support the department and discipline.
- Attend relevant training and development courses.
Qualifications and Experience
- Good undergraduate degree in Music Psychology or a related field.
- PhD (or imminent completion) in Music Psychology, or equivalent practitioner experience with professional membership.
- Teaching and examining experience at university level with positive student feedback.
- Experience designing and delivering high‑quality teaching and assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in collegial and administrative activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience developing innovative teaching methods.
- Experience in an administrative role within an organisation or department.
- Experience providing high‑quality one‑to‑one supervision.
- Active membership and engagement with a professional body.
- Demonstrable innovation in educational practice.
- Publication in a scholarly journal or relevant professional publication.
- Attendance and presentation at internal or external seminars or conferences.
- Ability to attain the rank of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
