Responsibilities:

  • Discharging returned items
  • Shelving books and ensuring book classification sequences are correct
  • Repairing damaged items
  • Stock taking
  • Assist Assistant Principal with hosting small events/activities in the college library
  • Keep the library tidy, organised and welcoming including ensuring computing and printing facilities are maintained
  • Promote the college library to students and resources it has to offer, including creating displays (books and other materials) on topics relevant to the college community
  • Maintain good working relationships with staff and students

Full training will be given. Student Librarians will be required to participate in required training and attend library staff meetings.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in a customer facing role
  • Previous experience of working in a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Reliable with capacity to work 4 hours per week
  • Creative
  • Previous experience of organising events and/or activities
  • Previous experience of working in a library
  • Interest in the personal development of others
