The Chemistry Department is looking to recruit casual staff to assist new and progressing students with disability needs. The below role descriptor seeks to capture the main requirements of the role consistently, providing a summary of the key duties of the flexible role to help in setting expectations for applicants, flexible workers and line managers. They are not intended to cover all duties which may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Under instruction and following appropriate training: Assist named undergraduate students during practical laboratory classes.
  • Help prepare, set up and dismantle equipment and other materials.
  • Work with colleagues to construct equipment which will meet requirements.
  • Effectively plan, prioritise and respond to ensure an effective, timely service is delivered.
  • Respond to queries and deal with problems, escalating issues as required.
  • Undertake development and analysis to assist in research projects under direction.
  • Provide advice and guidance if requested.
  • Contribute to effective health and safety practices.
  • Work with colleagues to identify and implement improvements to working activities.
