The Role and Department

The postholder will work as part of a leisure team to deliver the highest possible standards of service and customer care to sports facility users, both indoors and outdoors. The role of Leisure Assistant is a key frontline post in ensuring this objective is maintained. The role involves an element of physical manual handling which can include lifting and transporting equipment.

The postholder will be required to work evenings, weekends and unsociable hours as part of a rota. Hours will vary Monday to Sunday 7:00 – 22:30.

Uniform will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE THIS JOB WILL BE BASED AT QUEEN’S CAMPUS SPORT CENTRE (STOCKTON).

To be considered for this role, here are the skills/experience we’re looking for:

• 1. Good spoken and written communication skills.
• 2. Basic digital skills including the ability to use the internet and email.
• 3. Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• 4. Experience of working in a team.
• 5. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines.
• 6. Ability to follow instructions, spoken or written, accurately.
• 7. Ability to follow health and safety guidelines.
• 8. An interest or understanding of working in a sporting environment.
• 9. Experience of dealing with first aid situations.

Under instruction from Team Leader, and following appropriate training:

Undertake duties such as emptying bins, setting up sports hall equipment (or similar) and returning to original layout, maintenance of outdoor spaces etc.

Undertake routine health and safety tasks, such as gym cleaning, maintenance checks, litter picking etc.

Work indoors and/or outdoors as required by the role.
