The Governing Body of this popular primary school seek to appoint excellent, enthusiastic, creative and motivated Trainee SEND Teachers to support the development of our SEND provision – The Climb Project.
We are looking for trainee SEND teachers (ECTS welcome to apply), who have a passion for supporting children with additional needs. All of our trainee SEND teachers will be well supported to develop into highly skilled practitioners and will receive a significant training package including Team Teach, Pecs, Makaton, ASC support etc. We strongly recommend interested candidates to contact the school for a discussion around this exciting position and how the future of these roles could develop.
This inclusive SEND provision, named The Climb Project, is dedicated to delivering outstanding inclusive practice through a culture of co-production, experiential learning and growth, where carers and professionals work together to support the holistic development of the child. Therefore, we are seeking to appoint at least one committed and passionate trainee SEND teacher to lead one of our specialist SEND support classrooms within Wheatley Hill Primary School.
This teaching position will be to work within one of our Base Classrooms. You will be contributing to and participating in the team working ethos of the provision whilst maintaining its core values by:
• Effectively leading and supporting your TA team under the guidance and support of the SENDco / DHT.
• Planning and delivering the teaching programme for all pupils within the class in relation to the National Curriculum, providing clear structures for learning activities and for sequences which both motivate and challenge;
• Setting clear academic and working closely with other professionals as they set therapeutic targets;
• Setting appropriate and demanding expectations of the pupils in your care;
• Making effective use of a variety of SEND assessment information on pupils’ progress;
• Maintaining good order and discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and individual pupil needs (Support will be given throughout from the SENDco / DHT;
• Contributing to the whole school’s planning activities and operating at all times within the stated policies and practices.
There will be the opportunity to work with the mainstream aspects of the school as well as you support children with SEND to integrate into the mainstream classroom.
We are looking for people who have Qualified Teacher Status as well as a Degree or relevant qualification and experience. The successful candidate must have a desire to support pupils with SEND.
The candidate must be willing to work hard to develop their understanding of SEND support strategies (i.e. TEACCH, Makaton, Pecs, Colourful Semantics) as well as knowledge of the current national frameworks and developments in SEND. It is essential that the successful candidate has a clear desire to work with children with SEND.
