We are looking for 2 x Resourcing and Workforce Planning Officers to join our busy Resourcing and Talent Management team. One post is permanent, and one is temporary until 31st March 2028.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

As a key member of our Resourcing team, you’ll play a crucial role in implementing effective recruitment, retention, and talent management strategies across Durham County Council. You’ll work closely with managers to provide advice on policies and procedures, ensuring a high-quality, consistent recruitment process that supports communities across the county.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Recruitment & Resourcing – Assist in advertising roles, streamlining recruitment processes, and ensuring a smooth candidate journey from application to onboarding.
  • Workforce Strategy – Support services in planning for workforce challenges, implementing resourcing improvements, and stabilising talent pipelines.
  • Policy Implementation – Help managers navigate recruitment, redeployment, restructures, agency worker policies, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Candidate Attraction & Induction – Support resourcing projects to increase engagement, enhance onboarding experiences, and improve employee retention.
  • Data & Process Improvement – Analyse recruitment trends, support EDI initiatives, and refine policies to enhance hiring practices.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape recruitment strategies, stabilise workforce planning, and contribute to a forward-thinking approach to resourcing across Durham County Council.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need CIPD Level 3, or a relevant equivalent qualification, and the following experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Proven experience in a customer focused resourcing / recruitment function, including the design of effective job advertising
  • Strong understanding of recruitment and selection processes and associated employment law
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with managers and service areas to support workforce objectives.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • A strong commitment to improving service delivery and supporting positive employee experiences

HYBRID WORKING

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
