Children’s Homes Service – County Durham

Durham County Council are expanding their Children’s Homes Service and have two exciting leadership opportunities for passionate professionals who want to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

  • Registered Homes Manager
  • Salary: £50,269 – £54,495 (plus £2,500 temporary recruitment/retention allowance and £3,500 temporary Market Supplement)
  • Location: A designated Children’s Home in County Durham
  • As a Registered Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day running of a home, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. You’ll manage teams, safeguard vulnerable young people, and drive continuous improvement.
  • What you’ll bring:
  • Leadership experience in residential childcare
  • Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards within 18 months)
  • Service Manager
    • Salary: £56,554 – £60,680 (plus £2,500 temporary recruitment/retention allowance)
    • Location: Green Lane Offices, Spennymoor (with flexibility across County Durham)
    • As a Service Manager, you’ll provide strategic leadership across the growing service, supporting Registered Managers, driving quality assurance, and leading service development. Your expertise will shape a culture of excellence and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • What you’ll bring:
    • Proven track record in service improvement and quality assurance
    • Level 5 management qualification (or equivalent)
    • Experience as a Registered Manager or Responsible Individual registered with Ofsted
    • In-depth knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted frameworks
