DurhamLearn wish to recruit a Lecturer in SEND – delivering Employment and Work Skills training in the classroom; applicants will have significant teaching experience within the post 16 learning sector and be able to demonstrate working in one or more of the following areas: SEND/LLDD/Autism/ASC/SEMH/EBD

We have one fulltime 37 hour post available until 31st July 2026.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will work closely with our Programme Lead for SEND and will be responsible for the planning and development of high-quality courses and employability programmes, carrying out teaching and learning activities.

This will include preparation of individual learning plans, schemes of work, lesson plans and associated learning resources.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will preferably have experience of working on 16-19 study programmes which prepare young people with SEND/ LLDD for adulthood and follow Preparing for Adulthood themes.

Ideally, you will also have experience of liaising and working with other professionals such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists. You should be confident to liaise with the parents and carers of our young people, and also when working with the employers supporting our learners with positive work placements.

You will work closely with our Programme Lead for SEND and will be responsible for the planning and development of high-quality employability programmes, carrying out teaching and learning activities. This will include preparation of individual learning plans, schemes of work, lesson plans and associated learning resources.

Required Qualifications:
Level 5 teaching qualification
Level 3 Subject specific qualification in the field to be taught
Level 2 qualification in Maths and English

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
