We're looking for a mid-level developer to join the team at Durell, one with experience of development within the Insurance industry. You will be a full-stack developer working across multiple client projects, with a particular focus on our Schemes and Underwriting platform. Your principal role will be to lead the development cycle on client briefs, guiding our junior development and working under the leadership of our Tech Director.

There are two key parts to our business, our Policy Admin System (PAS) and our Underwriting and Distribution platforms. The PAS project is well underway, led by a full-time Product Manager, with the new version coming to market in 2026, and our Underwriting Platform is well established and market leading. It is a feature-rich offering for high profile brokers, MGA's and global insurers. Once bedded in, this role will be considered as the principal developer on the Underwriting side of our business.

  • Net Core/.Net Framework
  • C# & VB
  • JavaScript/jQuery
  • MySQL
  • AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC etc.)
  • Azure DevOps (knowledge of git is beneficial)

Qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in Full-Stack Development, with a focus on Back-End Web Development and comfortable Front-End Development and customer experience.
  • Demonstrable experience with Software Development and the ability to design and maintain scalable platforms.
  • Experience with insurance software is key.
  • Experience in SaaS in a B2B capacity, ideally at enterprise scale in regulated industries.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with modern development frameworks and tools.

We are looking for a tenacious problem solver who is comfortable in evolving demands and a good team player and communicator. The team is based in a modern co-working space in the centre of Bristol. It's a full-time role, principally office based.

Gross salary £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Enrolment in pension plan, employee contributions matched to 5%. 25 days paid holiday, plus bank holidays. Other lifestyle benefits.
