Role Description

We are looking for a motivated Junior QA Automation Engineer to join our expanding team in our Bristol office. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our web applications. You will actively contribute across the full testing lifecycle—from planning and design through to execution, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated test suites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop test scenarios and test cases for web applications
  • Develop, maintain, and debug automated test scripts
  • Execute automated test suites and analyse results to identify defects and regressions
  • Collaborate with the QA Lead to adopt and enhance the existing automation framework
  • Perform manual testing where required to support automation efforts
  • Log, track, and manage defects using JIRA with clear, reproducible documentation
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of software testing concepts, including STLC and defect lifecycle
  • Solid knowledge of manual testing principles
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and Java
  • Familiarity with TestNG framework and Maven build tool
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts
  • Ability to analyse test execution logs and troubleshoot issues
  • Experience using defect tracking and project management tools (e.g., JIRA)
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in test automation (Selenium with Java)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • ISTQB certification is a plus (not mandatory)
  • Insurance domain knowledge is advantageous
