As demand for AI and digital infrastructure accelerates, so does our team and we're looking for driven, commercially minded people who want to grow with us.

Role Purpose

The Electrical Estimator will play a key role in securing new business by preparing accurate, competitive and commercially robust estimates for electrical critical infrastructure projects.

Working closely with the sales, design and project delivery teams, you'll manage the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, ensuring every proposal reflects Durata's commitment to quality, value and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical critical infrastructure projects.
  • Review client specifications, drawings and tender documentation to fully understand project requirements.
  • Develop accurate estimates for LV and MV electrical distribution systems, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transformers, busbar systems, cable containment and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Produce accurate material, labour, subcontractor and plant cost estimates.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Work closely with sales, design and project delivery teams to develop engineered electrical solutions that improve competitiveness without compromising quality.
  • Identify project risks, opportunities and commercial considerations during the tender stage.
  • Prepare comprehensive pricing breakdowns, clarifications and tender documentation.
  • Liaise directly with customers and contractors throughout the tender process.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information and supplier pricing.
  • Support handovers to project delivery teams following successful contract awards.
  • Continuously review estimating processes to improve accuracy, efficiency and consistency.

About You

We're looking for someone who thrives on winning work and takes real ownership of every tender they produce.

You'll be commercially astute, highly organised and driven by delivering accurate, competitive submissions that help secure major projects.

You don't simply price what's in front of you, you challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, reduce risk and look for ways to create value for both the customer and the business.

You're proactive, detail-focused and confident making commercial decisions within a fast-paced environment.

You'll enjoy working collaboratively with sales and project teams while building trusted relationships with clients and suppliers.

Above all, you'll take pride in producing high-quality work that contributes directly to Durata's continued growth.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in estimating electrical engineering projects within critical infrastructure, data centres, industrial, utilities or building services.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and installation methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing detailed cost estimates and competitive tender submissions.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new software, systems and innovative technologies that support the estimating process.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of data centres, critical power, switchgear, UPS, cooling or modular infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with Net Suite and CAD.

Qualifications

There's no set qualification path for this role.

We're more interested in your estimating experience, commercial judgement and ability to consistently produce high-quality tender submissions.

Whatever your industry background, if you've got the right experience, attitude and a passion for winning work, we'd like to hear from you.
