The Opportunity

Working across a portfolio consisting of seven countries and five channels, the role is the indispensable partner to the sales and commercial teams, identifying growth opportunities and developing financially sound investment plans that grow revenue and optimise cost. This crucial role reports to the Finance Director and is accountable for the financial integrity and appraisal of growth initiatives, the in-market performance tracking, and the quality and timely recommendation of corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the financial assessment of regional initiatives and customer plan recommendations, including the impact on Total Category, Duracell and Customer P&L and market share.
  • Build the model and framework to assess promotional performance in grocery. Own retrospective evaluation of promotions vs year ago and forecast. Work with commercial strategy and sales to grow share and profit.
  • Own the performance assessment of customer JBP investments to recommend JBP structure improvements that grow customer and Duracell profit together. Benchmark across customers to lift best practice.
  • Design the 3-year economics of the ecommerce models to grow total market share in the channel. Track in-market performance and recommend corrective actions. Deep dive Amazon account economics to co-develop plans that grow share, profit and margin for Duracell and Amazon, protecting against customer risks.
  • Build the models to unlock white space distribution in Nordics. Cover retailer, distributor and Duracell P&L today versus offer; walk-away investment levels and economics. Sequence negotiation steps with sales and secure sector price exceptions where needed.
  • Own Discounter channel P&L and pricing to co-develop 4-P recommendations with sales and commercial strategy, that grow Duracell share in the channel and protect distribution from competition and marketplace price wars.
  • Own the financial appraisal of long-term investment projects. Define success criteria, identify “what needs to be true” solutions, quantify value streams, and assess DSF, NPV and payout.
  • Develop channel-specific solutions for wholesale to unlock channel growth.
  • Collaborate with FP&A so agreed investments and commercial plans land correctly in the forecast. Diagnose gaps versus expectation and recommend commercial adjustments that improve performance. Support sales in preparation for retailer meetings.
  • Own the size-of-prize view (external and internal), retailer and Duracell P&L with sensitivities, and JBP structure across negotiation scenarios.

The Candidate

A commercial finance manager with 7+ years omni-channel branded FMCG experience, working closely with Sales, Category and commercial team in the UK&I and Nordics markets. Comfortable building bold plans with commercial peers, defending them in front of senior management, and landing them externally with customers. Sees the big picture, gets the detail right, and uses AI and technology to think faster and go further.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Partnering – Business partner to sales, marketing, revenue growth management (RGM), with customers/retailer facing experience.
  • Commercial - Counter-performance and promotional evaluation, JBP design, RGM.
  • Analysis - Customer P&L economics across grocery, discount, e-commerce, distributor and wholesale channels.
  • Modelling - Advanced financial modelling: P&L, NPV, payout, scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Technology - Fluent use of AI tools to augment analysis, modelling and written output. Power BI capability for reporting and advanced Excel skills as a default working environment.
