About the role
This role is a key part of the Design team, Duolingo's key creative partner across nearly every project. From our mobile apps and website to our brand voice, email newsletters, and community events, the Design team helps shape the full user experience. At Duolingo, we take pride in crafting experiences that are both user-friendly and fun—and we sweat the details to get them just right.
You will...
- Work on the user experience across features within the Duolingo language app
- Play a leadership role on the product design team
- Work collaboratively with designers and artists to build upon and expand the Duolingo design language
- Partner with engineers and product managers to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for our products
- Sometimes work on very broadly defined loose concepts and sometimes on narrowly defined tactical features
- Work in a highly enthusiastic fashion with the design and product teams
- Consider all parts when crafting the experience: from copy to animation to business impact
- Use a mix of internal and third-party AI tools at every step of your creative process
You have...
- An online portfolio with mobile app or web design samples
- Design experience in a consumer application product or software role
- A desire to strive for excellence in your work until all details are attended to
- The ability to explain your work process and decisions and seek feedback to help you produce your best work
- Experience ideating, building, and prototyping with AI tools like ChatGPT and Cursor
Exceptional candidates will have...

We post a multi-level salary range for all of our roles. This is not inclusive of the rest of our awesome portfolio that includes equity compensation and world-class benefits. Our salary ranges are the same for all US locations. Your recruiter can share more details about the range for a specific level during the hiring process. The actual salary within the range is determined by many factors including but not limited to skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Salary Range: $200,000 - $360,000 USD.
