We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Trainer to join a growing engineering organisation specialising in complex vehicles and machinery. This is a key position for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys developing others and sharing practical knowledge. Based primarily in Peterborough, the role focuses on delivering high-quality internal training, with regular travel across the UK to support customer and operator training. You will play a crucial role in ensuring both employees and customers are fully equipped to operate, maintain, and repair specialist equipment safely and effectively.
As a Technical Trainer, you will design, deliver, and continuously improve structured training programmes that support operational performance, product reliability, and customer satisfaction. Working closely with management and technical teams, you will act as a subject matter expert and trusted point of reference for technical knowledge and best practice.
As our Engineering Trainer you will be responsible for:
- Designing and delivering structured training programmes aligned with business requirements and individual development plans
- Working collaboratively with management to identify training needs and objectives
- Developing high-quality training materials, including: PowerPoint presentations, Technical manuals and handouts, and eLearning and digital learning content
- Delivering technical training covering: Equipment operation and programming, Electrical and hydraulic systems, and Diagnostics, maintenance, and repair
- Acting as a subject matter expert for digital systems and telematics, including customer support and route recording
- Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to internal teams and customers
- Scheduling, coordinating, and delivering training sessions in line with company and group guidelines
- Maintaining accurate training records and ensuring timely certification
- Continuously reviewing and updating training content to reflect new products, upgrades, and innovations
- Providing technical support to warranty processes
- Coordinating external training requirements, including CPC and statutory training
- Ensuring compliance with City Guilds quality assurance standards
About You:
- Technical Experience
- Background in specialist vehicles, agricultural equipment, or a comparable technical field
- Strong working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Hands-on experience with diagnostics, servicing, and repair
- Experience delivering training to a range of audiences, from operators to engineers
- Proven ability to produce clear technical documentation and training materials
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Qualifications:
- Formal training in vehicle, agricultural, or engineering disciplines (or equivalent experience)
- Training in electrical and hydraulic systems
- Teaching, training, or assessor qualifications (desirable but not essential)
