Salary: £37,000-£42,000+ per annum DOE, including regular overtime
Basic Rate: £16-£18 per hour DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, Overtime available

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a stable, permanent opportunity with a well-established engineering business
We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in County Durham , working on a range of machine tools and industrial machinery.
This is a genuinely hands-on position where your mechanical fitting and maintenance experience will be highly valued.
The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for the fitting, maintenance, repair and servicing of a range of machinery and mechanical equipment.
You'll work with machinery including:
Lathes
Milling machines
Grinders
Radial arm drills
Manual machine tools
Other industrial and engineering equipment
Your responsibilities will include:
Mechanical fitting, assembly and installation of components
Planned and preventative maintenance
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding machinery
Identifying potential mechanical issues and carrying out corrective work
Working with bearings, gearboxes and other mechanical components
Using a range of hand tools and workshop equipment
Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications where required
Ensuring machinery is operating safely and efficiently
Maintaining high standards of health and safety
Working independently as well as alongside the wider engineering team
Completing work to a high standard and within agreed timescales
About You
We're looking for someone who is practical, mechanically minded and confident working with machinery .
You will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician or similar
Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or machine-tool environment
Strong mechanical fitting and maintenance experience
Experience working with lathes, milling machines, grinders or similar machinery
Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A strong focus on quality, reliability and health & safety
A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or technical certification would be advantageous.
Time-served Mechanical Fitters with strong practical experience are also encouraged to apply, even if you don't hold formal qualifications.
