The Opportunity

Dunwall Partners are working with a growing professional services business to recruit an experienced R&D Tax Manager to join their expanding Innovation Tax team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, lead and develop junior team members, and play a key role in delivering high-quality R&D Tax claims.

You'll work directly with innovative businesses across a range of sectors, build strong client relationships and help them maximise the R&D Tax relief available to them.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a portfolio of R&D Tax clients from onboarding through to submission.
  • Lead the end-to-end R&D Tax claim process, ensuring quality and deadlines are met.
  • Lead, mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Conduct client interviews and workshops to identify qualifying R&D activity.
  • Review claims and reports to ensure they meet HMRC requirements.
  • Build strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Help clients improve their R&D record keeping and claim processes.
  • Support HMRC enquiries where required.
  • Deliver client seminars and presentations.
  • Keep up to date with R&D Tax legislation, HMRC guidance and case law.
  • Support business development and identify opportunities with new and existing clients.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced R&D Tax professional who is confident with clients, technically strong and ready to take ownership.

You'll ideally have

  • Proven R&D Tax Relief experience.
  • Strong report writing and reviewing skills.
  • Good knowledge of current R&D Tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience managing clients, workloads and deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior team members.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
  • A commercial mindset and confidence supporting business development.
  • Strong Corporate Tax candidates with solid R&D Tax experience will also be considered.
