We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation specialising in specialist vehicles and equipment used in municipal services, infrastructure maintenance, aviation support, and environmental operations.
This is a customer-facing, hands-on role where you will carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on a diverse range of high-value equipment in the field. You will play a key part in delivering an excellent service experience to customers while working independently and as part of a wider service team.
As our Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on specialist equipment including compact and truck-mounted road sweepers, spreaders, airport support equipment, and mowing machinery.
- Delivering a high-quality, professional service to customers, maintaining strong working relationships.
- Completing warranty repairs and ensuring all associated paperwork is accurate and submitted on time.
- Accurately completing job sheets, additional work authorisations, parts requests, and warranty documentation.
- Coordinating daily activities with the Service Desk, reporting movements to maximise efficiency.
- Ordering parts promptly and accurately via the Service Desk.
- Carrying out courtesy visits to customers when required.
- Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
- Promoting products, parts, and services to both existing and potential customers.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a background in Field Service Engineering or a related discipline such as:
- Heavy Plant Engineering
- LGV or Automotive Engineering
- Agricultural or Materials Handling Equipment
Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of:
- Internal combustion engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Auto-electrical systems
You should also have:
- Experience repairing and maintaining high-value capital equipment.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
- A customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively in the UK and occasionally overseas.
- Clean UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous).
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
